The Tap Project, Cryptocurrencies, Blockchain gaming and how it serves a utility by paying gamers to play videogames were all topics discussed during a recent podcast on Oct 21st.

The Tap Project, a blockchain based platform for games with transferable in-game tokens, aims to decentralize the gaming industry and provide gamers with options and opportunities when it comes to in-game earned and premium currencies. It additionally provides developers an immediate and additional revenue stream for each published game on the Tap Platform. The Tap Coin allows in-game digital currency to be exchanged into Tap Coins and other cryptocurrencies.

Upcoming Updates

The XP System - with the purpose of adding more to the gamification to the platform. Gamers grinding out in games and challenges can now earn more rewards, leveling up, gaining experience points and moving further in the system than ever before. This makes the player feel that all the hard work continues to pay off. Badge systems, challenge systems and even gamer prestige are motivators and keeps players rewarded!

The XP system is a familiar method of rewards with gaming mechanics. This all ties into a drip system, and created a holistic design in the decentralized space.

The updates to the XP system are all now in a Proof of Mastery (POM) article. The recent abstract discusses this in technical detail. The Tap Project has come up with this new way to reward players specifically adapted in blockchain gaming to replace traditional systems for staking.

The POM conceptually is a mechanism based around gaming, grinding and rewarding players through token distribution. After players reach a level of mastery they are put into a pool. This rewards players who are playing the game and using traditional crypto-methods — fueling interaction in the game and the platform.

Essentially a player who plays on the platform, playing games and earning XP will be able to continue to claim rewards, succeed in challenges and increase levels all the way to Tap’s level 100.

Currently, trends in blockchain gaming and crypto-currencies tend to focus on the token side. People follow tokens and see it as investments/markets and hold tokens for those purposes. However, they are not always seeing the technological, gamification and the utility portions of the token and how they all mold together.

It also needs to be discussed the current events of blockchain gaming and of how gamers keep/hold their assets as a fallout of the Hearthstone Player and Blizzard incident. This then spawns conversation on whether or not we will reach a stage where developers and publishers have the power to control players’ assets. With many indicators of subscription based gaming such as Google Stadia and Xbox Game Pass, what does the future entail where you subscribe to a host of games but you do not own titles? Is this the future of how assets will be managed too? At what point do you stop owning skins but subscribe per month to hold that skin?

Also in the future is a partnership that involves plans with e-sports, blockchain gaming and Tap coin and Tap Project. As things continue as well as they currently are, the future will be interesting as we look to e-sports and blockchain technology. E-sports ownership would be the space that allows gaming and e-sports and blockchain to live harmoniously. Imagine owning an e-sports team!

The Tap Project will be good for gaming, good for blockchain, good for e-sports and good for cryptocurrency.

Tap into a world that is more than just gaming!
